We believe the church is the sending organization for missionaries. We value the relationship between the missionary and their church partners to build connections between the local church and the broader world need for evangelism.
The Mission Ministry Team of Oakville Presbyterian Church actively supports the following global outreach programs.
Common Thread – India
Since 2017, Oakville members Jene and Carolyn Carl have been assisting Pastor Arun Kumar in India by teaching needy women in the surrounding communities basic sewing skills so they can support themselves. This mission grew to the point in 2020 that it was officially organized as a non-profit called “Common Thread- India”. There are 21 sewing centers, each connected with a church. While the women sew, they listen to solar powered audio Bibles recorded in their native tongue. Many have accepted Jesus Christ through this mission. In addition to buying more treadle sewing machines and audio Bibles, donations help support Christian pastors and fund simple construction projects, such as building of restrooms. Pastor Arun now oversees 60 to 65 pastors.
Frontier Fellowship
Frontier Fellowship traces its beginnings back to a kitchen table in Portland, Oregon, in 1981. It was there missiologist Ralph Winter, pioneer of the unreached people groups movement, shared his vision to revive a frontier mission’s focus within the United Presbyterian Church with Harold Kurtz, a longtime missionary in Southwest Ethiopia. We began under Harold’s leadership as United Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship and were later renamed Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship.
Our vision describes our two-fold conviction: God desires to be worshiped by all peoples through culturally unique expressions of faith, and the global Church is called to unity and participation in sharing the Good News of Jesus with those who still have little or no access to that message.
EPC World Outreach
We support a young family from Portland (whose names we keep off the Internet for their safety) who serve on the EPC World Outreach Engage 2025 team, planting churches among a Muslim unreached people group.
Frontiers™
Our church supports a Corvallis family who are working to start multiplying groups of new disciples among Muslims. They are partnering with the organization Frontiers, though their financial support is run through a separate organization. If you would like to contribute financially or be more closely involved with this family through prayer & communication, please contact the church office for more information.
