Areas of Ministry

The information below does not reflect changes caused by the COVID- 19 pandemic.

If you have any interest in these ministries, contact the church for the current arrangements.

Children

Children are precious and a heartedly welcomed part of the church family.  We encourage families to bring their babies and children to our worship service. The occasional cooing, chattering, and even a little fussiness during our worship service reminds us of their presence, which brings joy to the family.  We have a nursery for infants on up to 3 years old.  About halfway through the worship service, the children (ages 4-5th grade) are invited upfront for a special Children’s Message and then dismissed to Sunday School where they have Bible Stories and activities geared for their age. The children learn Bible stories and lessons that provide a foundation for living out our faith in today’s world.

The biggest highlight for Children is the Vacation Bible School! Usually offered late June or early July, it draws in children from many communities around the Oakville area. Each year features a new theme. A variety of activities are offered throughout the week, including woodworking, games, skits, Bible lessons and much more.

Youth

Our Youth Group meets every Tuesday starting at 5:30 p.m. It includes both high school and middle school. Our Youth Leaders, Caleb & Elle Carlson and Hayden Tedrow lead them in fun and crazy games and have lessons and discussions of what it means to be a Christian in a diverse and challenging world. They are intentional about creating a safe place where the youth can be themselves and be accepted, and where they can ask any question they have about life and faith. Occasionally they will have retreats and work projects giving them more opportunities to grow and share.

The youth are strongly encouraged to join the church family in our Sunday morning worship services. They are also invited to help in the worship service as ushers, worship leaders, and sound techs.

Adults

Adults of all ages are invited to participate in our worship services and fellowship activities.

There is an Adult Sunday school class September through May from 8:45 – 9:45 a.m. that meets in the Library or the Fellowship Hall before the worship service. The leaders and courses rotate throughout the school year, but each are designed to understand God’s Word better and apply it to our lives.

There are also Home Groups that meet usually in the Fall and in the winter/spring. These are excellent opportunities to grow in your faith and get to know others and experience community in a deep way.  Periodically there is a Women’s Bible Study that meets for 6-8 weeks.

Check the announcement page and the calendar to find out what groups are meeting when, and contact the church for more information.
